Spicak Delivers what Downhill Fans Love

There are races that are simply an integral part of the iXS Downhill Cup. Spicak is one of them. This long-standing round in the Czech Republic once again thrilled spectators in 2026 with a revamped course, perfect conditions and thrilling racing. The young riders, in particular, made a big impression once again and demonstrated just how much potential the next generation has.

A new flow already in training

The classic race initially welcomed the field of riders with a damp track. Following a light shower during the night, the surface offered good grip in the morning and inspired confidence. With every hour of sunshine, the track dried out further, transforming over the course of the day into the typically fast and dusty Spicak circuit.

The numerous track modifications, in particular, were immediately noticeable. A number of narrow and stony sections were replaced by smooth combinations of bends, giving the track considerably more flow. Nevertheless, its character has been preserved: the legendary stone fields and technical key sections remain Spicak’s hallmark and make the course one of the most demanding on the calendar.

Saturday – Seeding Run

The conditions could hardly have been better. Sunshine, pleasant temperatures and a dry track with good grip provided ideal conditions for the seeding run.

Anton Zierl’s (AUT – Cube Next Generation) comeback was particularly pleasing. Following his injury, the young Austrian made an impressive return and came within just two seconds of the Elite Men’s fastest time. This is yet another strong indication of just how high the standard of the young riders has now become.

In the elite categories, Lino Neumann (GER – Scott Gravity Racing) and Hanna Blochberger (GER – Fahrrad Eberhardt) came out on top and clocked the fastest times.

Sunday - Race Day

Race day began under cloudy skies. What initially seemed unremarkable turned out to be a real advantage. The diffused light softened the stark light-and-shadow contrasts in the forest, allowing the riders to read the course much more clearly. The final, with its many close calls, turned out to be a real highlight. The junior categories in particular produced some fast times, including the riders from the Cube Next Generation Team. They put in impressive runs and once again underlined their strong progress.

Elite Women

In the Elite Women’s class, a relatively unknown rider made a name for herself. Hanna Blochberger once again posted the fastest time, underscoring her skill on challenging terrain. The young rider from Thuringia secured the victory with a lead of just under two seconds over Karolína Kadlecová (CZE – X-RIDE Team Racing Lešná). Justine Welzel (GER – Rose Bikes), the winner of the previous race, finished in third place. The 19-year-old Czech rider has thus taken the lead in the overall standings.

And anyone who scrolled a little further down the results list would have noticed that five riders in the Girls U17/U15 category were faster than the top time in the Elite Women’s category. The winner, Adela Kokesova (CZE - Horsefeathers Niseko), was even nearly 10 seconds faster than the top time.

Elite Men

In the Elite Men class, Lino Neumann didn’t miss a beat and was the only rider to post a time under the three-minute mark. The Scott rider completed the course in 2:58.932 minutes, finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of Max Becker (GER – DH Talent Team) who came in second. Nico Lamm (GER) took third place. In the overall standings, Neumann leads comfortably after three wins, with a 133-point lead.

It’s also worth taking a look at the results for the youth riders, as Anton Zierl (AUT – Cube Next Generation) was another rider who stayed under the magical three-minute mark. The U17 rider’s time would have been good enough for second place in the Elite class.

Conclusion

Spicak has once again demonstrated why the race has been one of the most popular rounds of the iXS Downhill Cup for many years. The revamped course combined modern flow with its well-known technical character, ensuring racing of the highest standard.

The weather was perfect for almost the entire weekend. Just a few raindrops on Sunday did nothing to spoil the excellent conditions. On top of that, the finish area was packed, there were plenty of spectators, and the atmosphere amongst riders, teams and fans was fantastic.
