The track
The course, which runs over a length of 2 kilometres and overcomes an altitude difference of 400 metres, presented the racers with major challenges. The conditions were extreme: dusty, dry and very hot. With temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius, the riders not only had to contend with the demanding track, but also with the heat. The temperament of the Spanish spectators at the side of the track created a unique atmosphere that spurred the riders on to top performances.
Beachfeeling
A special highlight in Panticosa is the mountain stream right next to the paddock and the finish area. Many of the riders and their companions took the opportunity to cool off regularly. Beach feeling developed on 1500 meters above sea level.

Qualification
In the qualification on Saturday, Yannik Baechler (SUI - Baechler Brothers) came out on top in the Elite Men with a 2.8 second lead. The Elite Women category was led by Abigail Hogie (USA - Beyond Racing).

Cheered on in the final
Sunday brought a hint of rain at night. However, this water could not harm the dust. Nevertheless, the conditions were a little cooler than in the previous days and so the Spanish fans were able to really heat up the field of riders again at 24 degrees.
In the final, the Spaniard Pau Menoyo (Commencal / Schwalbe) surprisingly came out on top in the Elite Men class ahead of Yannick Baechler (SUI - Baechler Brothers) and Ignasi Jorba Prats (ESP - Motoclub Sant Andreu de la Bar).

In the Elite Women category, the favourite Abigail Hogie (USA - Beyond Racing) was only able to fight her way to fourth place due to a crash. The victory went to Spain's Mireia Pi Madrenas (BGR-PureRiding). Delphine Bulliard (SUI - Verbier Racing) took second place and Spain's Sara Yusto (Lacteas Cobreros) came third.

A successful premiere
The race in Panticosa showed that Spain is a worthy host for international downhill events. The combination of the challenging course, the extreme conditions and the enthusiastic support from the spectators made the race an unforgettable experience. The riders and fans are already looking forward to returning to the Spanish Pyrenees next year.
