The iXS Downhill Cup has been held in Switzerland since 2003, meaning that the series has now been running for 23 years. Bellwald has been part of the series since 2007, with a few short breaks, and is hosting such a race for the fourteenth time this year. It has become a tradition to celebrate the end of the season in Valais, so it's not just about winning the race, but also about the overall classification and the prestigious titles.
The bike park in this small mountain village high up in the beautiful Valais region offers a challenging full-throttle track that, at 2,200 metres long and with a 400-metre elevation difference, will once again demand everything from the participants. With several jumps and a number of technical sections, the track is perfect for the season finale.
The weather is usually quite good there at this time of year, which is why the organisers choose this date every year. But to be honest, we can also remember races with snow. This year, it seems that the weather gods are once again not quite in the mood for late summer, as temperatures are expected to be low and rain is by no means a rarity.
A Look at the Overall Standings
A look at the overall standings In the series standings, Lino Neumann (GER – Chili Racing Brigade) currently leads the Elite Men class ahead of Simon Maurer (GER – Schornsteinfeger Maurer) and Jannik Abbou (GER – DH Talent Team). All three still have a chance of winning, so it's going to be a very exciting final.
