Racing in the Highlands
Fort William is not just any place - it is a legend of downhill sport. Embedded in the Scottish Highlands and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the region not only offers a spectacular backdrop, but also a long-standing racing tradition. For over two decades, the town was a permanent fixture on the World Cup calendar - and this year, for the first time, it is hosting a round of the iXS European Downhill Cup.
World Cup feeling included
The track in Fort William is one of the most challenging and best-known downhill courses in the world. Over a length of 2.8 kilometres, the riders overcome 655 metres in altitude, battling over rocks, high-speed passages, northshores and the infamous, endless pedal section in the lower part. It's not just technique and courage that are required here - fitness also plays a decisive role. A track that shapes champions.
Top class start list
The starting field is more than impressive: With world-class riders such as Danny Hart, Max Hartenstern, Nina Hoffmann and British downhill icon Steve Peat, the race will be on a par with the World Cup. Many of the top athletes use the EDC stop as perfect preparation for the upcoming World Cup - which means racing at the absolute top level for fans!
Anticipation of the unknown
Even though Fort William is an old favourite for some riders, the combination with the iXS EDC is a real premiere. The excitement is high: how will the EDC stars fare against the World Cup elite? Who will cope best with the rough conditions of the Highlands? One thing is certain: this weekend will be a real highlight of the season - for riders, spectators and the history of European downhill racing alike.
