Maribor has long been one of the biggest names in European downhill racing. The Pohorje Bike Park is located just outside the Slovenian city and has hosted international iXS races on multiple occasions. After a hiatus of several years, the iXS European Downhill Cup is now returning - with the season’s final race.

2.6 kilometers at full speed

Spanning 2,600 meters in length with 450 meters of elevation gain, this course has enjoyed a special reputation for years. Fast, technical, and featuring plenty of challenging sections, Maribor offers everything that makes a true downhill course great. The numerous historical course previews and race videos from Maribor also demonstrate that spectacular iXS races have been held here in recent years.

It's All or Nothing

And this time, there’s more at stake than just the next race win. Maribor is the seventh and final race of the 2026 iXS EDC. After a season featuring seven high-profile stops, the overall title won’t be decided until the very end. Anyone hoping to secure the title will have to give it their all one last time in Maribor. The current standings promise a season finale packed with excitement—and the final major showdown of the EDC year.

Battle for the Overall Ranking

Nothing has been decided in the overall standings either ahead of the final. Kerstin Sallegger leads the Elite Women’s division, but Maria Pomés and Soline Besson are within striking distance. In the Elite Men’s division, Ian Guionnet and Matthew Luke Williamson are also separated by only a few points. With points up for grabs in both the seeding rounds and the final, anything can still happen in Maribor—leaving the season’s final showdown completely up in the air.
