Preview: Abetone
After the season of the iXS European Downhill has successfully been opened with two races in Slovenia, fans and riders had to wait eight weeks for this and now we will finally enter into the third round. Last year Abetone entered the international downhill stage and was awarded a warm welcome by both fans and riders. After all it has been and still is one of the favorite venues the series has on offer.
The next race of the European Cup belongs to category C1 of the UCI standards. This not only means 6000 Euro of prize money, but also a reward in terms of points for the world rankings. This and the overwhelming presence of press and media simply call for the elite riders of the scene to come to Abetone this weekend.
To get a genuine first impression of the scenery and the track conditions, just have a look on the 2018 iXS Sunday´s Pure video:
But let’s have a last look at the overall conditions: An important factor in every race is, of course, the weather. At the moment the forecast really doesn’t look too bad and the weather might be perfect to continue the EDC season. Rain, however, really would make it a lot more difficult in Abetone, that’s for sure. Let’s wait and see about that.
No matter what the weather, Abetone is definitely worth a trip for both riders and visitors. It is your chance to be a part of an exciting and extremely demanding race! To make sure that you’re in the right place at the right time, have a look at the time table:
