Mini Racing Series for Kids

Five Ten Kids Cup

Finally a mini racing series for all bike enthusiastic kids, who had to watch the older ones racing only before! With the Five Ten Kids Cup, there is now the right format for everyone from the age of five to ten years, to experience their first competition on two wheels. You could also say: the preschool of the Rookies Cup.

The series is hosted by Sabine Oswald and the MTB-Agency team of Innsbruck, in cooperation with Racement, the longtime series organizer of the iXS Cups and the Specialized Rookies Cup.

The Five Ten Kids Cup is embedded in the Specialized Rookies Cup; in 2019, four events will take place at the same time in four family-friendly bike destinations: Germany, Austria and South Tyrol. All kids with basic bike experience are welcome to participate - not only pros but also beginners! The kids can go biking and racing together, meet old friends and conect with new ones. They will get a first hand experience of what racing is really about – simply unforgettable!

Sabine Oswald is excited to start this project together with Racement. She has been in contact with bike kids for many years now and notes, "I keep seeing motivated young guns everywhere ... thanks to Racement, the Rookies Cup has been a low age entry-level downhill series for a decade. However, the even younger bike kids are increasing rapidly and therefore it was high time to present a series for the small shredders. Our goal is to spread team spirit and to let the kids have fun."

What will you expect at the Five Ten Kids Cup? After the start number pick up and registration, the kids meet for the "Riders Meeting" and a track walk. Then they have some time to train before it gets serious and the start beep tone. Two to three small competitions around bike technique skills and downhill will take place - all of course adapted for the age-levels. It’s all about getting experience! The kids should have fun and action, all are winning, the three fastest even gold, silver and bronze.

"The Kids Cup is likely to make it even easier to enter the Rookies Cup and maybe even reduce some of the initial excitement at the start. Today, the Rookies Cup is bearing its fruits and we see athletes in the World Cup, who started in this series at a very young age. I'm sure that in a few years we will see pros in the World Cup who started in the Kids Cup. Of course, we are happy to be a cooperation partner! " Summarizes André Baumbach the commitment of Racement to the project.

Winterberg will be the kick off at the end of May; the Kids Cup is a part of the iXS Dirt Masters Festival, which is definitely a perfect spot for the start of the new series. Some surprises await the kids at the “Sparkassen Kids Race Winterberg”. In July, the cup continues in St. Kassian / Alta Badia. It will be a bit more quiet, but it is a beautiful location and the infrastructure offers a lot for bike families.

Stop three takes place at the "MTB Festival" in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, an excellent Kids and Youth Festival in the perfect location. The little ones get a big stage and Mum and dad will definitely have fun in the bike park and on the trails of the Tyrolean area as well. The fourth round will be back in Germany. The finals of the Specialized Rookies Cup will take place in Schöneck/Vogtland and the Kids Cup will finish its first season there.
