In the past few days the two World Cup races in Lenzerheide and Les Gets had to be canceled and then we received a message that unfortunately the planned European Cup run in Brandnertal cannot take place either. Although the measures to contain the corona virus are being relaxed in many places and in some places, you hardly notice that not everything is normal, the topic of a major event is yet another dimension.

The local organisers of Brandnertal have now informed us that it is unfortunately not possible to plan the race safely.

"The current Covid 19 situation and the coming weeks are very uncertain - numbers are increasing, people are mixing more and more in Europe and it is not foreseeable what will happen in 6-8 weeks; In the end, this is too risky for us, because in addition to the health aspect of the participants and helpers, we also need a minimum number of participants to make the event economically ‘affordable‘."

Another reason for the cancellation was given, which we can absolutely understand, of course:

“The Covid19 situation naturally affected us in the bike park; Bikepark opening 4 weeks after the planned opening date; but then with closed borders in Switzerland and Germany. Our main task is to manage the 2020 season as well as possible and to complete the expansion.

More than Racing

We, as a series organization, are of course not pleased with the development, but only the local organizers can assess the respective situation comprehensively and so we rely completely on the assessments made. In the end, the most important thing for us is that we can manage the difficult times together and that we will have the opportunity to host races again in the future.

Meanwhile we are also thinking about how we can bridge the gap. We are happy, that "NotARace" was a successful thing.
